Adrian Lombardi, M.D.

Family Medicine

Introducing the Provider

Dr. Adrian Lombardi is a Board Certified Family Practitioner who has been practicing on the South Shore of Long Island Since 2006. Dr. Lombardi spent his childhood in Islip, graduating from Islip High School, and later from Dowling College earning an BA in History. He subsequently worked in the marine industry as a licensed captain and many other roles, and during this time completed a BS in Biology at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington with a profound interest in Molecular and Cellular biology. Switching gears completely, he gained entrance to and attended St. George’s University School of Medicine in Grenada, with the distinction of serving a term as president of the Iota Epsilon Alpha International Medical Honors Society during his time there. His clerkship years were spent at Jamaica Hospital in Queens, NY and he later went on to secure a residency at Northwell/ Southside Hospital in Family Medicine where he completed his hospital training and served as Chief Resident of the Family Medicine program there for a 1 year term.

Since that time Dr. Lombardi has practiced Family Medicine in various settings. Outpatient, both as an independent solo practitioner for a decade as well as while employed by larger organizations. He provided inpatient care for many years at Southside Hospital to his patients admitted there. Dr. Lombardi has an academic appointment as a Clinical Assistant Professor of Family Medicine at the Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell and has been involved in teaching not only medical students in this role, but has also taught and hosted many Medical Residents as well as Nurse Practitioner and Physician Assistant students during their clinical rotations during his career.

Dr. Lombardi’s philosophy regarding the practice of medicine is fairly simple- “Care for patients as you would want your family and friends to be cared for.” He believes that there should be a focus on patient education as a necessary step in achieving wellness and believes that oftentimes primary care must serve as the “translator, navigator and adapter” between the patient and the larger, and often increasingly complex and confusing realm of specialty and system based care. He believes that the inherent value of the development of a long term, open and trusting relationship between patient and doctor is tantamount and seeks to maintain this with the patients and families under his care.

Outside of the world of medicine, Dr. Lombardi still is deeply involved in the marine field, holding a USCG Captains License and spending much of his free time tinkering with boats, gardening, and spending time with his family. Dr. Lombardi practices out of our West Babylon and Ronkonkoma locations.
