At Long Island Comprehensive Medical Care, our cardiology services span the entire spectrum of patient care, ranging from cardiovascular disease prevention and detection to pharmacologic and interventional treatment. We work closely with the divisions of cardiac and vascular surgery, ensuring that our patients receive the most innovative and comprehensive care available.
In addition to general cardiology care, we provide a wide range of diagnostic services, including electrocardiograms (EKGs). An electrocardiogram is a brief recording of the electrical impulses or rhythm of the heart through electrodes placed on your chest, arms, and legs. This non-invasive test allows us to assess and diagnose heart abnormalities, identify risks such as high chances for stroke or heart attack, and monitor overall heart health.
We also offer a variety of ultrasound services in cardiology, such as echocardiograms and vascular imaging. An echocardiogram is a specialized ultrasound of the heart that helps us evaluate its structure and function, providing critical insights for diagnosing heart conditions like valve disease, heart failure, or congenital heart defects. Additionally, ultrasound is used for imaging blood vessels, including arteries and veins. For instance, lower extremity venous ultrasound is performed when a blood clot in the vein is suspected, while lower extremity arterial ultrasound is typically conducted for patients with peripheral arterial disease.
